The Magic Town food and berry displays actually sell you things
- Buying from a Hidimant Food Display or a Golden Meriklime Display never completed. Your sim walked over, took the item off the shelf, and then just stood there – nothing was charged, nothing arrived in your inventory, and the goods stayed stuck in your sim’s hand.
- The displays were waiting on a trip to the cash register that could never happen, and the “put it back on the shelf” step they fell back on was broken too, which is why the item was left in your hands.
- You now buy straight from the display. Your sim takes the item, pays the marked price, and the ingredient goes into your inventory where you can use it – Butter, Honey, Sugar and Baking Mix from the food display, and Elderberries, Berry Bush, Grapes and Vine Sprig from the berry one.
- The Spellbound cash register and its gypsy clerk are no longer needed for any of this. They are still there as shop decoration if you like the look of them.
- Your sim also lets go of the goods properly afterwards instead of standing there still holding an invisible armful, and each ingredient is listed once in the Magic Inventory instead of twice.
Lots that crashed with a vendor or clerk on them
- Some lots would not open at all any more, and taking one down could take the whole game server with it. Serra Glen and A Spooktacular Spot in Magic Town were the worst hit.
- The cause was any lot running a **shop clerk, bartender, barmaid, DJ, ice cream / cart / pastry / goulash / gumbo vendor, Traveling Joe, or an Unleashed gardener, trainer or pet judge**. While standing idle, each one was quietly creating a hidden, invisible prop every single tick – thousands a minute – and every one of them was being saved with the lot. Once a lot had collected enough of them, it was simply too big to load.
- The clerks and vendors now stand and fidget like any other sim, and create nothing. Lots that already filled up with the junk clean themselves the next time they load, so nothing is lost and no rollback is needed – Serra Glen is open again.
“Concubia Nocte” gothic set in the catalogue
- The “Concubia Nocte” set is now buyable: column, counter, table, dining chair, tomb, dance cage and DJ booth.
- It is Halloween seasonal content, part 1 – the whole set is on the shelf from **October 1st to November 1st** each year, and is not listed outside that window. Anything you already own keeps working and keeps its value all year round.
- Like the two sets added earlier today, it shipped with the game but had never been listed, so nothing in it could be found or bought. Search for “concubia nocte” (or “crypt”) in Buy mode to pull up the whole set at once.
- The “Black Mamba” DJ booth has also been listed, to go with the dining chair from the same set. It is available all year.
Your resident NPCs were dying at work
- Residents could die. Really die – grim reaper, the lot goes quiet, and your caretaker is a ghost who stops cooking, cleaning and greeting until something revives them.
- Nobody could work out why, because there was nothing to see: no fire, no warning, full motives. The reports that did come in described a Sim who looked like they were burning, on a lot with nothing burning on it.
- The culprit was repair work. Fixing a broken TV, lamp or appliance has always carried a small chance of electrocuting the Sim doing it, and that chance never drops to zero no matter how good they are with Mechanical – some objects don’t even check. That’s fine for a player, who chooses to pick up the toolbox. Repairs are a resident’s job, all day, every day, so for them it was only ever a matter of time.
- Residents are still mortal, and we want them to be – a resident who can’t die isn’t a character on your lot, they’re furniture. What we’ve taken away is the certainty. A resident now usually shrugs off a shock that would have killed them: they drop the repair, pick themselves up and try again. Sometimes they won’t, and that’s the point.
- Repair-capable residents also now have maxed-out Mechanical skill, so shocks are rarer to begin with.
- Moderators can still use the admin electrocute command on a resident when they mean to, and it works every time.
