Servo and Bonehilda actually finish their chores now
- Servo would often freeze for several seconds partway through a job, his hat flickering on and off as if he couldn’t decide what to do next, before he either continued or gave up entirely – and Bonehilda (the skeleton butler summoned from the Bag-O-Bones closet) had the same underlying problem, wandering off with a toilet still clogged or a bed still unmade.
- The cause was a timing quirk in how both of them decided they were actually free to start their next task. A chore handed to them at exactly the wrong moment could sit ignored for several seconds – which is what Servo’s hat-flickering pause actually was.
- That decision now happens reliably every time. Servo no longer stalls with his hat cycling mid-job, and both of them pick up and finish everything waiting for them on the lot – cleaning, repairs, unclogging, bed-making – before heading back to their post instead of giving up partway through.
Magic ingredients are named in your Magic Inventory again
- Ingredients bought from the Faerie Queen (and the other Spellbound vendors) showed up in the Magic Inventory window as a row of letters and numbers instead of a name, so there was no way to tell your Butter from your Toad Sweat without counting.
- They now list by name – Butter, Toadstools, Toad Sweat, Diamond Dust, Pixie Dust, Golden Thread and the rest. Your existing stock is unaffected; the items were always the right ones, only the label was missing.
Fixed the stutter that hit everyone on a lot every few seconds
- Since this morning’s update the game hitched and then sped up again every 15-30 seconds, for everyone on the lot at the same time. It was not your computer.
- A leftover diagnostic message was being written for every single object on a lot, twice a second – millions of lines an hour. Writing them held up the lot itself, so every lot on the server paused in time with the busiest one, then raced to catch up.
- The message now appears once per object instead of once per check, and the lots run smoothly again. Busy lots like Magic Skills University, with over a thousand objects, were hit hardest.
- Resident NPC record-keeping, which also ran on a timer and briefly froze the lot every 30 seconds, now happens in the background where it belongs.
Your resident no longer bins the bread you just baked
- Residents doing chores could clear away freshly made food – bread, cakes, a plate of anything – within seconds of it being set down, if nobody on the lot happened to be hungry at that moment.
- Servo and hired caretakers already left new food alone for a minute after it appeared. Residents were the one helper that never got that grace period, so they were the ones players caught doing it.
- Now any food a resident sees appear is off-limits to their cleaning sweep for about a minute, and after that it is still protected for as long as somebody on the lot is hungry. Leftovers nobody wants are cleared as before.
- Bread and cakes served with a “Grab a Slice” menu are also now recognised as food with servings left, instead of only being recognised while their plain “Eat” option was showing.
- “Somebody is hungry” now means what it should. Before, food was only spared while somebody was hungry enough that a Sim NPC would go and cook – players eat whenever they feel like it, so a player who had just baked almost never counted. Players now keep food safe at any hunger level a Sim would plausibly still eat at.
- Your own residents count too. They were being treated as staff who never eat, so a maid or Servo could clear the meal a resident was hungry for.
- Food anybody has already clicked on – player or NPC, walking over to it with a plate in hand – is never treated as mess, even if nobody’s hunger bar looks low.
Mentored skilling no longer flickers on and off
- After mentoring was switched on at the Welcome Nest, established players saw their skill speed bounce between 120% and 0% while a new player was sitting right next to them skilling.
- The bonus was only meant to stay up for a short while after each of the new player’s skill points, and that window turned out to be about twenty-five seconds – shorter than the gap between the points themselves, so it kept dropping out in between and the skilling done in those gaps was lost rather than just slowed.
- The window is now five minutes, so as long as a new player is on the lot and skilling, mentors keep their rate steadily. It still ends as soon as the new player leaves the lot.
Magic Town shops, vendors and the snake charmer
- The Magic Town grocery and berry displays had nothing to sell. The stock behind them was being thrown away every time the lot reloaded, so the “Buy…” menu came up empty. The stock now stays put, and the menu lists Butter, Honey, Sugar and Baking Mix again.
- The Spellbound cart vendors – the Faerie Queen, Apothecary Todd and the Vampiress – were never turning up. Every lot with one of their carts has been standing empty; they now appear at their cart as intended.
- The Snake Charmer stopped showing up once a lot had been reloaded enough times. His basket gives up permanently after one bad start and never tries again; it now restarts properly, so Nagganaste is back at his basket.
- The Magic Inventory window listed ingredients as raw ID numbers like “GUID: 7C97A7F9”. They read as Butter, Toadstools, Toad Sweat, Pixie Dust and so on now.
Still broken – buying from the Magic Town displays. Your sim walks over, picks the item off the shelf and then nothing happens: no charge, and nothing in your inventory. We have tracked this down to its root cause and it needs a larger change than we wanted to rush out. It is the next thing on the list.
