We’ve updated our map and yes FINALLY flattened “fancy fields” we’ve also as usual added more roads to the map to connect people that decided to be hermits, sorry.

General Terrain improvements, we have removed trees that were in ocean, flattened out more habitable places, added some ponds across the map. There may be some ice islands added to random parts of the ocean that make no sense, but we decided to make our own rare.

We have also spent some time on our internal tools, when we do release the games code at some point, we want to have as much documentation available for our team, the next team, and teams working on other versions of this game. We’re happy to share the tools we create. This has always been about preserving a good valuable game.

NewSO — 536830

Money, magic, residents, casinos, caretakers, and a pile of fixes.

This update includes several systems and fixes that have been rolling out throughout August, including a major overhaul to the Bills panel, Resident NPC improvements, casino fixes, Magic Starter Pack repairs, property purchasing changes, and additional object fixes.

Highlights

A Completely Rebuilt Bills Ledger

The Bills panel has been rebuilt into a proper financial statement.

Instead of a simple balance history, you can now review your transactions day by day and see much more clearly where your money came from and where it went.

The new ledger includes:

More systems now record detailed descriptions in your financial history, including:

You may now see descriptions such as Blackjack bet or Table balance withdrawal instead of a generic transaction entry.

Financial history for the new ledger begins from August 9, 2026.

Resident NPC Pet Fixes

Resident NPCs should behave much better around pet furniture.

Residents could previously end up selecting pet beds or pet bowls during autonomous behavior in situations where they obviously should not have.

Those interactions have been corrected so residents should stick to appropriate furniture and interactions.

Yes, Chad can finally get out of the cat bed.

Resident NPC Lots Stay Open

Lots operated with Resident NPCs should now remain available for visitors more reliably.

Resident behavior should no longer accidentally leave otherwise functioning lots unavailable because of NPC state issues.

Resident NPC Improvements

Several long-running Resident NPC behavior problems have been addressed.

Residents Eat Before Bed

Residents now pay more attention to hunger before deciding to sleep.

Previously, a resident could repeatedly:

  1. Go to bed hungry
  2. Wake up because they were hungry
  3. Fail to properly resolve the hunger
  4. Go back to bed
  5. Repeat the cycle all night

Residents should now attempt to eat before sleeping when their hunger is too low.

No more Doob spending the entire night waking up starving.

Stuck Meal Protection

Residents now have additional protection against becoming stuck while trying to eat.

If an NPC gets trapped in a meal-related interaction for an unreasonable amount of time, the system can detect the stalled state and recover instead of leaving them stuck for hours.

This addresses cases such as residents spending six in-game hours attempting to finish one snack.

Bob may finally finish eating.

Safer Repair Training

Resident NPCs have received improvements around autonomous repair and mechanical training.

Residents should make better decisions when interacting with broken objects and should be less likely to repeatedly put themselves into dangerous repair situations.

Chad’s electrocution career has been reconsidered.

Better Ghost and Revival Handling

Resident NPC state handling has been improved when a resident dies, becomes a ghost, or is revived.

This should prevent resident profiles and autonomy systems from becoming confused by a Sim changing between living and ghost states.

Magic Fixes

Magic Starter Pack Phone Ordering

The Magic Starter Pack phone-order flow has been repaired.

Ordering the pack now uses the proper purchase flow, including:

The purchase should now behave like an actual transaction instead of relying on the incomplete behavior that existed previously.

Clown Magic Portal Ownership

The Clown Magic Portal created through the Magic Starter Pack should now receive the correct ownership information.

Previously, a portal spawned by the kit could end up without the correct owner association, causing later interactions with it to behave incorrectly.

Kit-created portals should now properly belong to the player who purchased and received them.

Casino Improvements

High-Roller Blackjack

Blackjack’s maximum bet has been increased from:

§1,000 to §10,000

Table owners can configure any maximum bet up to §10,000 through:

Manage… → Max Bet

The bet input fields now support five digits, so 10000 can actually be entered.

Bankroll Requirements

Casino tables must remain stocked with at least:

8× the configured maximum bet

For example:

§10,000 max bet = §80,000 minimum table balance

If the table drops below this amount, it will automatically close until enough money is deposited or the maximum bet is lowered.

For now:

Hold ‘Em and Roulette will remain at their existing limits until their payout handling is updated for larger bets.

Stuck Casino Dealers Are Cleaned Up

Some casino tables could become impossible to reopen after a lot session.

The table would show Open in the menu, have money available, and still refuse to start.

In many cases, an old dealer NPC from a previous session was still standing around.

The table believed that dealer was still assigned, while the leftover NPC also blocked the position needed by a replacement dealer.

Leftover casino staff are now automatically removed when a lot loads, including:

The stale casino state associated with them is cleaned up as well.

Affected tables should repair themselves automatically the first time their lot loads after this update.

You do not need to replace the table.

Fresh casino staff will spawn when the table is opened again.

The dealers have finally learned how to clock out.

Casino Tables Explain Why They’re Closed

Casino tables automatically shut themselves down if their balance moves outside safe operating limits.

A table may close when:

Previously, this happened silently.

Now, opening Manage… on an affected Blackjack table displays a Table Closed message showing:

Depending on the situation, you may need to:

This also explains tables that appeared to randomly shut down during a busy casino session.

If several players win large payouts and drain the till below the required reserve, the table closes automatically.

Now it actually tells you why.

Roulette Max Bet Display Fix

The Roulette Edit Max Bet dialog no longer incorrectly claims that the maximum bet cannot be greater than §0.

It now displays the actual betting limit.

Casino Table Stocking Reminder

Casino tables do not have a separate Stock interaction.

To add money to a casino table:

Manage… → Balance → Deposit

Object and Interaction Fixes

Picnic Basket Cleanup

Several issues involving picnic baskets have been corrected.

All three picnic basket variants received fixes for problematic interactions.

This includes cleanup behavior involving old or rotten picnic food.

The baskets should now correctly dispose of unusable food rather than becoming stuck or leaving broken interaction states behind.

Additional picnic-related problems involving Sims immediately standing back up and Servo cleanup behavior have also been corrected as part of the object updates.

Property Purchasing

Buying Property No Longer Removes You From Another Home

Purchasing a new property no longer automatically removes you as a roommate from one of your existing lots.

Previously, if you were already a roommate somewhere and purchased another property, the client could silently move you out of whichever lot it considered your primary residence before completing the purchase.

That no longer happens.

Your existing roommate memberships are now preserved when buying another property.

The existing 3-property membership limit still applies.

If you are already a member of three lots, the purchase will be declined and you’ll need to move out of one before purchasing another.

Property Purchase Confirmation Updated

The property purchase confirmation dialog has also been updated.

It now correctly explains that your existing roommate memberships will remain intact instead of warning that purchasing the property will move you out of another home.

Resident Caretaker Update

Dinner Is Finally on the Calendar

Caretaker residents can now prepare group meals according to a configurable schedule.

Open:

Resident NPCs → Life & Tuning

You can configure up to five meal times.

Each slot can be assigned to any lot-clock hour or set to N/A if you don’t want to use it.

The default Caretaker schedule is:

Caretakers can wake up for late scheduled meals when necessary.

If the refrigerator is empty, they can restock it before preparing food.

Scheduled meals also have a two-hour grace period, so if the Caretaker is temporarily busy, they can still prepare the meal shortly afterward.

If usable food is already available, they won’t waste groceries preparing another platter.

Caretakers Can Support Skill Sessions

Resident NPCs should no longer constantly interrupt players who are actively building skills.

While a player is using a skill object, residents will avoid autonomous interactions such as:

Caretakers can still use Serenade.

Serenade restores energy without interrupting the player’s skill-building interaction.

The Caretaker prioritizes the player with the lowest energy and stops once their energy is nearly full.

With the current tuning, approximately five Serenades can restore a player from empty to full energy.

So your Caretaker can now help you survive an absurdly long skilling session without repeatedly stopping you to talk about absolutely nothing.

Improved Resident Door Permissions

Permission doors now use clearer labels:

Employees / Residents

Live-in Resident NPCs already receive roommate-level door access, so existing permission doors should continue working normally.

You should not need to replace or reset existing doors.

Additional Caretaker Improvements

Several smaller improvements were made to support the new Caretaker systems.

Caretakers should now feel much more like actual members of the household: keeping everyone fed, helping during long skill sessions, and moving through the home with the permissions expected of someone who lives there.

General Bug Fixes

This update also includes additional cleanup and reliability work across several systems, including:

Thanks to everyone reporting strange NPC behavior, broken casino tables, missing transaction information, magic problems, and the other wonderfully specific disasters that make their way into bug reports.

Please keep them coming.
