Abandoned Garden Gnomes No Longer Block the Woodworking Table
Finished garden gnomes on the KraftKing Woodworking Table are supposed to stay reserved for their creator for about a minute before anyone else can sell them.
That timer wasn’t actually running, which meant an abandoned finished gnome could remain locked to its original creator forever — and because the finished gnome stayed on the table, nobody else could start another one.
The reservation timer now works properly. After about a minute, anyone can sell an abandoned gnome and free the table for the next project.
Magic Town Portraits Actually Hang on the Wall
The four animated Makin’ Magic portraits had another placement problem after their catalog listings were corrected: they could still be dropped on the floor and would appear nearly invisible because they were showing their ground-state artwork.
They now behave like normal paintings, require a wall, appear at the correct height, and immediately show their framed artwork.
The same fix also restores placement for several other imported wall decorations, including Spellbound and Superstar paintings and the Ikea LACK wall shelves.
Broken Showers Stay Broken Until They’re Repaired
Several imported showers could still be used normally while broken, with Take a Shower appearing right next to Repair.
Those showers now use the same broken-object rules as the rest of the game. When broken, they must be repaired or salvaged before they can be used again.
They also now wear out and break over time like normal showers.
Abandoned Cooking Pots No Longer Turn Into Mystery Salads
If a Sim disappeared from a lot in the middle of cooking, the unfinished meal could remain stuck as a cooking pot forever. Sims could even pick up and eat the pot before it eventually turned into a rapidly spoiling salad.
Abandoned meals now return to a normal prepared-food state when nobody is using them. They can then be cooked properly, moved, or cleaned up normally.
Meals that are actively being cooked are unaffected.
Salad Station Meals Can Be Served Again
The Salad Station could prepare a group salad, but the finished food only offered Clean Up because its Serve interaction was missing.
Serve is back. Once the salad is prepared, Sims can serve it and grab plates like any other group meal.
Original Lot Terrain Can Be Restored After Moving
Moving a lot regenerates its surrounding terrain and flattens the buildable area, which can leave large properties looking like a giant flat dirt pad.
There is now a way to restore the lot’s original hills and slopes from the neighborhood terrain. An admin can use /restoreterrain on the lot to bring the natural terrain back.
This is best used on empty or nearly empty properties, since restoring the terrain underneath an existing build can leave objects or structures sitting on a slope.
Event Gifts Can Be Given to Every Sim
Event rewards previously worked once per account, so if you had several Sims, only whichever Sim claimed the event first received the gift.
Events can now be configured to give one gift per Sim. Each Sim claims their own copy the first time they log in while that event is active.
Money-based events remain one reward per account.
Event Mail Arrives With the Gift
Event mail could arrive one login late, leaving a new item in your inventory with no explanation until your next session.
Event messages now appear immediately when you log in and receive the reward.
Eyedropper Now Works in Offline Sandbox Mode
The Eyedropper could correctly identify objects, wallpaper, floors, and fences in offline sandbox play, but clicking only produced a beep instead of jumping to the item in the catalog.
It now works in sandbox mode the same way it does online.
Back Rooms Finally Use Their Own Lighting
The previous room-lighting fix corrected furniture and Sims, but floors, walls, and terrain could still inherit the brightness of an adjacent room.
Those surfaces now use the actual light level of the room they’re in, so a dark back room no longer looks fully illuminated just because the room next door is bright.
The Last Cars Now Give Room — and the Black Limo Places Properly
Seven vehicles were missed by the earlier car-stat cleanup and were still contributing no Room score. They now match the rest of the vehicle catalog and correctly provide Room 10.
The affected group includes both Decommissioned Sunrise Crater Cabs, the So ICY Ice Cream Van, Squad Car, black Limo, Ghost Busters!, and the Starsky & Hutch Gran Torino.
The Car – Limo – Black also had a separate problem where purchasing it placed nothing at all. It now appears normally, like the pink and white limos.
Newspaper Event Announcements Respect Their Dates
Timed events could appear in the newspaper weeks before they actually started and remain there after they ended.
Timed-event announcements now appear only while the event is active and disappear when its window closes.
Normal patch notes and general newspaper announcements are unaffected.
Large Objects No Longer Float After Rejoining a Lot
Large multi-tile objects such as the Ice Ape Snow Slide and Blaäanko Super Pipe could appear to float high above the ground after re-entering a lot with sculpted terrain.
The object was still logically in the correct place — only its rendering height was wrong — which is why moving it temporarily fixed the problem until the next reload.
Large objects now retain the correct terrain height after the lot reloads.
The Magic Side Show Stage Actually Works Now – Still hella broken…..
The Even More Magic Than Before Side Show Stage had several Sims 1 conversion problems stacked together.
- Performers no longer get trapped in an uncancellable salvage action when the show ends.
- The Magic Assistant now appears on the stage instead of out on the grass.
- The wooden stage deck is walkable, so performers and audience members can actually stand where they’re supposed to.
- Performers no longer float above the deck during tricks.
The magician deliberately keeps their normal outfit because the original Sims 1 stage costumes do not exist in NewSO and would make the Sim invisible.
Seasonal Catalog Items Now Manage Themselves
Holiday objects no longer need to be manually added and removed from the catalog with patches.
Catalog items can now be assigned to a seasonal event window and automatically appear and disappear at the correct time.
The Halloween collection is the first major set using the new system. Its catalog windows are split into three waves, with the main Halloween set appearing in October and disappearing again after the event.
Seasonal schedules are also set up for Thanksgiving, Winter, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day, Spring, Summer, and Fall.
Anything you already own remains on your lot, keeps its value, and can still be sold normally while the item is out of season.
The Skeleton Can Get Out of Its Closet
Knocking on the Bag-O-Bones Skeleton Closet opened the door, but your Sim then stood directly in the only tile the skeleton could use to exit.
Your Sim now steps out of the doorway after knocking and turns back toward the closet, leaving enough room for the skeleton to come out normally.
The Skeleton Butler Takes Cleaning Jobs Again
The skeleton butler could leave her closet and then stand around doing nothing while trash accumulated on the lot.
She now looks for cleaning work using the same general task system as the hired maid, but she remains a separate service: there is no maid visit charge, and once she’s finished she returns to her closet instead of leaving the property.
There is still a separate cleanup issue being investigated for some trash piles; this change gets the skeleton taking the jobs again rather than ignoring them completely.
Resident NPCs Stop Staring at Fireworks While Their Needs Collapse
Resident NPCs could repeatedly choose Watch on the Sky Scorcher Fireworks Kit because the interaction advertised large motive gains even when no rocket was actually firing.
Residents now pay attention to whether an activity actually helped. If an object repeatedly promises to fix a need but delivers nothing, the resident temporarily stops considering it and chooses something that works instead.
Big Ass Bong Can Reach the Fun and Comfort It Advertises
The Big Ass Bong advertises 10 Fun and 10 Comfort, but Fun stopped increasing at about 85% and Comfort stopped at about 65%.
Both can now reach 100% with enough use. The gain rates themselves are unchanged, group Social behavior still works, and the Hunger drain remains as before.
Pets No Longer Climb Into a Chair Instead of Their Carrier
If a chair was placed directly in front of a pet carrier, telling a cat or dog to enter the carrier could make the pet climb into the chair instead.
Pets are no longer redirected into chairs while routing to a carrier. If something blocks the carrier entrance, the pet now reports that it can’t reach the carrier and points out the obstruction.
Normal pet furniture behavior is unchanged.
Counters Respect Walls Immediately
Counters on opposite sides of a wall could still treat each other as one continuous counter run and use joined graphics.
Counters now check the architecture between them before linking. Walls, fences, and doorways keep separate runs apart.
Building a wall through an existing counter run now splits it immediately, and removing the wall lets the counters reconnect without requiring you to pick them up and place them again.
Carducopia No Longer Claims to Teach Charisma
The Carducopia Card Game advertised a Charisma benefit even though none of its interactions have ever awarded Charisma.
The incorrect +Charisma line has been removed from its catalog and information panel. Actual Charisma-training objects are unchanged.
Resident NPCs Put Carried Objects Down Again
Resident NPCs could get permanently stuck carrying a laptop or another object, which prevented them from using beds, chairs, fridges, bathrooms, and most other objects.
If a resident has been standing around holding something for roughly ten seconds and isn’t actively using it for a task, they now put it down normally and continue with their day.
This applies to any object a resident can end up carrying, not just laptops.
Activity Logs Got a Round of Fixes
The new property Activity Log has received several follow-up fixes:
- Build Mode entries show the player’s name instead of an internal number.
- Removing walls and other Build actions that refund money are now recorded.
- Visitors who can’t access the log see a proper permission message instead of an endless Loading… screen.
- The buttons across the top are no longer partially covered.
- Clicking rows no longer turns their text black, and column headers are no longer clickable.
- Took object and inventory-placement entries now identify the actual object instead of confusingly naming the person who moved it.
Existing Build Mode entries benefit from the improved name display as well.
60 Decorative Objects Now Actually Decorate
A catalog-wide check found 60 decorative objects that contributed no Room score at all.
Those objects now provide Room value and advertise that value on their catalog card. Ratings scale with price, roughly from Room 1 on inexpensive decorations up to Room 8 on high-end pieces.
Several imported decorations were also using much smaller Sims 1-era Room values and have been brought onto the NewSO scale.
Objects intentionally designed to reduce Room score were left alone.
Decorative Catalog Cleanup
A larger cleanup of the Decorative catalog corrected categories, names, and several wildly inconsistent prices.
Thirteen objects that weren’t actually decorations have moved to their proper categories. Plants moved into Build Mode, tables moved to Surfaces, and usable chairs and foot stools moved into Seating.
Newbie’s Forgotten Trellis has been removed from the buy catalog because it’s meant to be grown rather than purchased.
The Ice Wall and both Popsicle Art objects now have proper names.
Several price inconsistencies were also corrected, including Victor Hollywood valances, the Yellow Stool, Carrot Seed Packet, house drapes, airport signs, the Shovel, School Skeleton, PumpkinLamps, Airport Check-In Kiosk, and the Over Time Gold Album.
Objects you already own are unaffected; only their catalog placement or shelf price changed.
Seasons Now Change Automatically
NewSO’s environment now follows the calendar automatically.
- Fall: September 1 through November 27, including fall grass colors on lots and the city map.
- Winter: November 28 through January 25, with snow applied automatically.
- Summer: June through August, with substantially less heavy rain.
The server checks the date automatically, so seasonal environment changes no longer need to be manually switched on.
Hot Tubs Put Everyone in Swimwear Again
An old Sims 1 behavior caused very outgoing Sims to undress completely when entering a hot tub instead of changing into swimwear.
All twelve affected hot tubs now put every Sim into swimwear regardless of personality.
Showers, bathtubs, and normal dresser outfit changes are unaffected.
Trees and Shrubs Now Contribute to Room Score
Most plants in Build Mode’s Garden catalog previously contributed absolutely nothing to a property’s Room score.
They now have ratings based on size:
- Shrubs and topiaries: Room 2
- Single-tile trees: Room 3
- Large multi-tile trees: Room 4
The Juniper Bush and Sword Fern keep their existing health-based Room behavior, including penalties when they die.
Magic Spellbook Shows Your Spells Again
Look Up Spells on the Magic Spellbook could walk your Sim to the book, briefly open it, and immediately close without showing the spell list.
An old Sims 1 household-ownership check was incorrectly being applied online. That restriction has been removed.
Anyone can now read a spellbook, including owners, roommates, and visitors, and the book correctly displays the available spells and required ingredients.
The Suburban Witch’s Book of Shadows had the same problem and is fixed as well.
