New: Eyedropper Tool for Buy & Build Mode
Buy and Build mode now have an Eyedropper Tool!
You’ll find it next to the catalog search button, or you can simply press E.
Click a placed object, wallpaper, floor, or fence and the catalog will jump directly to that item, already selected and ready to place or paint.
The Eyedropper will even automatically switch between Buy and Build mode when necessary, and hovering over something shows the name of the item you’re about to pick.
No more hunting through catalog pages trying to remember where that one wallpaper came from.
Pets Now Properly Wait While You’re Crafting
Our previous pet update stopped autonomous cats and dogs from interrupting Sims using skill objects, but crafting objects such as the Garden Gnome workbench and Potion maker followed a slightly different set of rules.
Pets could therefore still walk up and cancel a craft in progress.
That’s now fixed.
Autonomous pet socials wait until your Sim finishes working before starting. If you directly tell your own pet to interact with someone, that interaction still behaves normally.
Blackjack Bets Are Now Charged Correctly
A separate Blackjack issue could cause your wallet balance to look wrong even though the actual winning payout calculation was correct.
The problem was the bet going into the table, not the winnings coming back out.
Several cases have been fixed:
- A round could accidentally debit the same bet twice.
- Closing the Blackjack window before the cards were dealt could cause the table to keep your bet.
- Standing up while a bet was still being processed could make that money disappear.
A Blackjack bet is now charged exactly once.
If the table has already taken your money but you leave before the cards are dealt, the unused bet is refunded in full.
This is separate from the earlier fix for incorrect large-payout overhead/display values.
Paper Chase Payout Display Fixed
The Paper Chase machine could sometimes show a very suspicious-looking:
Overwork penalty: -§-45
No actual penalty was being applied.
The machine’s additional payout bonus was being mistaken for a negative overwork penalty when the results dialog was assembled.
The bonus still pays exactly as it did before; the results screen simply displays the correct normal summary now.
The Band money object had the same issue and has been fixed as well.
Real overwork penalties still display normally.
Outdoor Shower Prank Options Cleaned Up
The Pre-chlorination Station outdoor shower was exposing two internal interactions in its pie menu:
- Get Pranked!
- Backfired!
These are internal pieces of the shower’s Trick Shower prank and aren’t supposed to be selected directly.
Clicking them could make a Sim suddenly play the on-fire panic sequence without actually performing the prank.
Those options are now hidden, while the real Trick Shower interaction continues to work normally.
Treadmill Sims Have Their Feet Back
Sims using the Tournament Treadmill 9000 were running with their feet buried ankle-deep inside the treadmill.
They now stand where they’re supposed to: on top of the belt.
Office Work Cubicle Now Respects Walls
The “Office Space” Office Work Cubicle could previously be placed directly through an existing wall, leaving its panels sticking into another room.
The cubicle now follows normal large-furniture placement rules.
It won’t allow placement across a wall, but it can still sit flush against one normally.
A few valid positions next to walls that were incorrectly rejected before are also usable now.
Cubicles that are already clipping through walls won’t be moved automatically; pick them up and place them again to apply the corrected positioning.
Magic Windows No Longer Erase Fences in 3D
Some Makin’ Magic windows, including Rowena’s Waiting Window, could visually erase a fence when placed on top of it in 3D mode.
The window’s special wall artwork was replacing the fence in the 3D renderer instead of being drawn over it.
Fences now remain visible as expected.
Lots already affected by the issue will correct themselves automatically when they’re drawn again.
Local Play Audio Now Actually Stops
Music and environmental sounds from local/sandbox play could continue after leaving the lot — sometimes even following you into your next online session.
Nightclub tracks were particularly good at refusing to leave and could continue looping or overlap with the intermission track.
Leaving local play now shuts down lot audio properly, just like leaving an online lot.
New Build Object: Oak Archway with Plants
The completely open version of the Oak Sliding Doors with plants is now available as its own object.
Introducing the:
Oak Archway with plants — §1,800
You’ll find it in the Doors catalog.
It uses the same vine-covered oak frame but has no moving doors, so it’s permanently open and doesn’t play sliding-door sounds.
Door permission support is still available if you want to control who can pass through the archway.
Frame artwork by Raveena.
Pet Names Handle Long Pasted Names Properly
The Name a Pet window could accept a pasted name that was longer than the game could actually use.
That could result in the window closing strangely or only part of the name being applied.
Oversized pasted names are now handled correctly.
The player list also updates your pet’s displayed name immediately instead of continuing to show the old name until the pet is released and re-released.
