Register for NewSO from the login screen
- The login window now has a Register button between Login and Exit, with all three actions laid out evenly across the bottom of the window.
- Register opens the official NewSO account-registration page in your default browser, so new players no longer need to find the page themselves before signing in.
Objects stop breaking on lots where nothing is supposed to break
- Showers, steam baths, dishwashers and other items imported from The Sims 1 were breaking down on community and 24/7 lots – including the Welcome Nest – even though those lots are meant to be maintenance-free.
- Community lots already told the game “nothing here wears out or breaks”, but imported objects keep their own separate record of whether they are broken, and that rule never reached it. So the object broke itself the moment somebody used it, and a Sim then had to go fix it by hand with the wrench routine those objects came with.
- The rule now covers both records. On a community or 24/7 lot these objects no longer break at all, and anything already sitting broken on such a lot repairs itself shortly after the lot next opens – no visit from a Sim with a wrench required.
- Nothing changes on your own property: things there still wear out and break exactly as before.
Fireplaces and kitchen sinks no longer punch see-through gaps in roofs
- In 3D mode with roofs on, panning around a lot opened gaps you could see straight through, right where a fireplace or a kitchen sink lined up with a roof further back.
- Objects that sit inside another surface – a sink dropped into a counter, a firebox set into a wall – tell the game to ignore what is already drawn in front of them so their recessed part can be seen. That instruction had no limit on how far back it reached, so it also cleared away a roof that merely happened to line up behind the object on screen, and whatever was under that roof then showed through the hole.
- The reach is now capped at one tile, which is more than enough for the counter or wall the object is set into and nowhere near enough to touch a roof standing behind it.
- This one is a client fix – it takes effect as soon as you have the update, no lot changes needed.
Text-to-speech now has its own volume slider
- Text-to-speech chat played at full blast with no way to turn it down short of switching it off.
- The chat options page (the one with the Text To Speech and TTS Pitch controls) now has a “TTS Volume” slider next to them. Slide it all the way down to mute speech while leaving everything else alone.
- The setting is remembered between sessions.
