Issue:
When updating the launcher, a black Command Prompt window may appear showing /find and become stuck. Closing the window may simply cause it to reopen.
This was caused by an issue with the launcher’s auto-update functionality. The updater has been fixed, so this should not happen with future launcher updates.
Fix:
There are two possible outcomes:
Option 1 — Ending find.exe allows the update to finish
- Open Task Manager.
- Find the find.exe process.
- End the find.exe task.
- The launcher should continue and complete the update on its own.
Option 2 — The black window keeps returning
If ending find.exe does not resolve the problem and the black window continues to reopen:
- Completely uninstall the NewSO Launcher.
- Download the latest launcher from the NewSO website.
- Reinstall the launcher and start NewSO normally.
You do not need to uninstall or redownload the full game. Only the launcher needs to be reinstalled.
