Espresso machine no longer offers “Repair” when nothing is wrong
- The espresso machine showed a Repair option on its pie menu from the moment you bought it, even though the machine was brand new. Every other coffee object only offers Repair once it has actually broken.
- It was an admin-only leftover: the espresso machine ships with an extra, older Repair row that was never marked as a repair interaction, so the game had no way to know it should stay hidden until the machine breaks.
- Repair now appears on the espresso machine only when it is genuinely broken, exactly like the regular coffee maker. Nothing about drinking espresso, wear, or calling the repairman changes.
Light switches now control the lights in their room
- The four decorative light switches – Maroon Kitchen, Retro Bathroom, Roses of Picardy and Steel & Chrome – were pure decoration. They now actually work.
- Each one gets five options: Turn Room Lights On, Turn Room Lights Off, **Enable Auto in Room, Disable Auto in Room and Set Room Light Color**.
- They are the Circuit Breaker Box’s options, but scoped: a switch only ever touches the lights in the room it is standing in. Lights in the next room are left completely alone, so you can have a different setting – and a different colour – in every room.
- Put one in a closed room and it controls exactly that room. Put the breaker box somewhere for the whole lot and switches in each room for the detail.
- The two older “Lightswitch/Wall Light” objects are unchanged for now – they are built as wall lamps rather than switches, and sorting that out is a separate job.
Circuit Breaker Box can recolour every light on the lot
- New pie menu option: Set Color All. Your sim walks to the panel, the colour picker comes up, and whatever you pick is applied to every single light on the lot at once.
- It is the same picker you get from a single light’s own Manage menu, so the colours match exactly
- this is just the version that does the whole lot in one go instead of one lamp at a time.
- Cancel leaves everything exactly as it was.
- Lights remember their colour: it is saved with the lot, and it survives you leaving and coming back.
- A light you buy later starts out white, as always. Run Set Color All again and it joins in.
“Study for School” is gone from the Maxis bookcases
- Every bookcase the original game shipped – the Cheap, Moderate and Expensive shelves, the Retro, the Rave, and the Ornery Owl Pioneer Bookcase – still offered Study for School on its pie menu. TSO has no children, so the interaction never did anything; picking it just wasted the click.
- The row is now removed from all of them. Study Cooking, Study Mechanical, Read a Book, Learn to Use…, Repair and Have Repairman Repair are all untouched.
- Custom and imported bookcases had this cleaned up back in May. This finishes the job on the built-in ones. Reported by Rachel.
Bars now come with a bartender
- There is a new Downtown Bar in the catalog (Shopping, §5217) – the full bar counter from The Sims: Hot Date, register and all.
- Place one and a bartender turns up and takes his post behind it, on his own. You do not hire him, there is nothing to switch on, and he keeps working as long as the bar is there.
- Click the bar – or click the bartender – to order: **SimCity Soda §5, Island Icee §10, Party Punch §15**. He pours it and hands it over.
- Sell the bar and he clocks off and goes home instead of standing on the empty floor forever.
- Related fixes while we were in there: clicking certain imported objects could freeze the lot for everyone on it, and a bar dropped next to a counter run could get stuck resetting itself. The engine now stops that class of misbehaving object instead of letting it take the lot down.
Trying on accessories at a store rack shows them again
- Hats, backpacks, shoes and tails bought from a store rack appeared on your sim just fine, but Try On did nothing at all – not for you, and not for anyone else watching. Racks that sell clothing were never affected; this was accessories only.
- The accessory now goes on the moment you pick it in the rack window, exactly like clothing does, and everybody on the lot sees it.
- Closing the window without buying still takes the try-on back off, and if you walked up to the rack already wearing something in that slot, your own accessory goes back on afterwards.
