This update focuses on making the launcher more reliable while adding a few quality-of-life improvements.
New
- Register button – You can now create a NewSO account directly from the launcher instead of opening the website.
- Volcanic Mode button (Windows) – Launch NewSo.IDE (experimental 3D mode) with a single click. On macOS and Linux, the button will show “Coming Soon.”
- macOS Dock icon – The game now displays the proper NewSO icon and name in the Dock instead of the default application icon.
Improvements
- Launcher updates – Self-updating on Windows and macOS is much more reliable and should no longer run into “file in use” or replacement errors.
- Larger launcher window – Added a little more space to make the interface feel less cramped.
- Wiki button – Now opens the online wiki in your default browser so you’re always viewing the latest version.
- Need Help? – Takes you directly to the NewSO Discord server for support.
Fixes
- Uninstalling now actually removes the selected component and asks for confirmation before doing so.
- Interrupted installs no longer delete your existing game files. If something goes wrong during an update, your installation is preserved and restored automatically.
- Fixed self-updating on macOS.
- Fixed update notifications so you won’t be prompted to “update” to an older version.
- Custom install locations are now remembered correctly.
- Fixed an issue where installs could get stuck at “Extraction complete.”
- Removed the retired Simitone section from the launcher.
